Call for Abstracts
The Waterman Fund is now accepting abstracts for the 14th Northeastern Alpine Stewardship Gathering, to be held Oct. 29-31, 2026 at the Sugarloaf Resort in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, and hosted by the Maine Appalachian Trail Club.
We welcome proposals that highlight ecology, stewardship, education, recreation, history, and the spirit of wildness in the arctic-alpine areas of the northeastern United States and Canada. The following formats will be considered:
Oral Presentation: 12-15 minutes, Microsoft Powerpoint. Projector and clicker will be provided. Talks will occur on Friday (Oct. 30). Schedule TBD. (*Special sessions containing multiple presentations focused on a single topic will also be considered. Please note in your email.)
Poster: Should represent original research or work. Poster session will be held Friday (Oct. 30), schedule TBD.
Workshop: 45-90 minutes. Instructor-led skills sessions or hands-on learning (e.g., photography, plant identification). Held Thursday (Oct. 29) afternoon or Saturday (Oct. 31) morning. (Note preference in email).
Breakout session: 45-90 minutes. Collaborative small-group meetings and discussion (e.g., strategy sessions, informal networking). Held Thursday afternoon, Friday, or Saturday morning. (Note preference in email.)
Submissions should consist of a MS Word document with the following information:
- Type (Oral presentation, Poster, Workshop, or Breakout session)
- Abstract (400 words or less)
- Contact information: Name, Address, Phone number, Email, Affiliation(s)
- For Workshops & Breakout sessions only: Approximate duration
