Our biennial meetings are designed for alpine researchers, managers, and stewards to share information, expand their training, and improve the understanding and stewardship of the alpine areas of Northeastern North America.
The 11th Northeastern Alpine Stewardship Gathering will be held on October 25-27 at the High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, New York. The gathering is being hosted by the Adirondack Mountain Club, in partnership with the Adirondack Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and The Waterman Fund.
Tom Butler, from Tompkins Conservation, will be giving the opening presentation on Friday and Ben Lawhon, from Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, will be Saturday’s keynote speaker.
The Waterman Fund is now accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations on topics regarding alpine stewardship and wilderness management in the Northeastern United States and Canada. The submission deadline is August 30th, 2019. Information on how to submit an abstract can be found here.
Accommodations are not included in registering for the conference. The 11th Gathering will be held at the High Peaks Resort. There are single king and double queen bedded rooms blocked off for the conference. There is a two-night minimum stay required and the rooms cost $152 per night. We recommend booking a double queen bedded room with a friend to keep costs low. You can reserve by calling (518) 523-4411 and reserving your room under the event “Northeast Alpine Stewardship Gathering” or emailing this form to email@example.com.
